Late White Bloomers
The fall is inevitably here, but still the garden has had some nice late highlights to offer, a lot of them have been white blooming. Delphiniums re-flowering, the same with a few clematis and then some otherwise late bloomers have been there to spread some joy. In the first picture / ensimmäisessä kuvassa / på den första bilden: Delphinium ’Green Expectations’ & Artemisia ludoviciana ‘Valerie Finnis’ It took a while, but the annual climber Maurandya ‘Bridal Bouquet’ that I sowed in the spring finally flowered.

I’m a member of the Finnish Rose Society and I am interested in roses, but not in the same way the most devoted enthusiast are, I really could not even be: I am more or less equally interested in so many other aspects of gardening as well and time would just run out. Villa Landriana
It so cold here that I am almost losing hope of ever seeing spring again, but until then, some browsing in my photo album might help. I went on a garden tour to Italy last spring with my local garden society. The tour was organized very well by the Swedish company Rosebud Tours. We visited quite a few nice places, but out of those Villa Landriana was a definite favorite of mine. Russel Page, the world famous garden designer has had some hand in this garden. The garden was divided into several rooms, which I don’t always like that much, but when the rooms are quite fantastic, I find myself not…

Genius Loci
This picture is for the Gardening Gone Wild Picture This Photo Contest , this is a direct link to the pic as I have right click disabled on this site. ’Genius loci’ is the theme for Gardening Gone Wild’s picture contest this month. I like the theme, it was always central to me when I had my gardening design business and did more garden designing than I do now. Ice roses – or are they called that in English? Genius loci refers to a sense of place i.e. the sprit of a certain place. In terms of garden design it could be to match the design of a house to other materials in…
