Spring in Slow Mode
Spring came in a quick burst, but in recent weeks the temperatures have been moderate, so there has been plenty of time to admire snowdrops and other spring beauties! My new border looks ok and it seems to have been a mild winter for most plants. The rabbits (of the large variety) have been the nastiest. I’m sad to see they have eaten most of my newer (of two plants) Rhododendron schlippenbachii . But otherwise, a good winter! The gardening year looks promising. Snowdrop Day
I’ve been a total snowdrop nerd today and spent hours photographing them, digging up and re-potting. The term “galantophile” is not that far away in describing me right now. Olen ollut melkoinen lumikello-nörtti tänään; olen kuvannut, kaivannut ylös, jakanut ja koulinut niitä. Brittitermi ”galantofiili” ei ole kovin kaukaa haettu.. Jag har varit en riktigt snödroppsnörd idag; jag har fotat, grävt upp och planterat om dem. Den brittiska termen ”galantofil” är nästan tillämpbar.. Galanthomania Now
Finally! Today the first snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) appeared through the snow. It was sunny earlier today and that is how the snowdrops broke through the snow. I already found them in around ten different spots in the garden. Now I’ll just have to wait for some sunlight and try and follow my own advice on photographing them. These pics are a little dull, but they show snowdrops!! Vihdoinkin! Tänään ensimmäiset lumikellot (Galanthus nivalis) kurkottivat lumen läpi. Still Cheating
There aren’t really any signs of spring here so a trip to Berlin helped. On the street crossing Schneeglöckchenstraße I saw these angels (Galanthus nivalis). Kevättä ei vielä näy täälläpäin, joten Berliinin matka helpotti hiukan kevään kaipuuta. Schneeglöckchenstraßen poikkikadulla nämä pienet enkelit (Galanthus nivalis) näyttäytivät. Det syns inte riktigt några vårtecken här ännu, men vårlängtan blev lite dämpad av ett veckoslut i Berlin. På en gata som korsade Schneeglöckchenstraße visade sig de här små änglarna (Galanthus nivalis).
