Winter Backlash
Despite some snowdrops and crocus flowering there is still a lot of snow and right now it’s even snowing a bit more. It’s awful, I’m really longing for spring. I’m consoling myself with some of my small seedlings and a few flowering things in the greenhouse. Faking Spring
I’ve been very busy indoors this winter, I’ve remodeled my home quite a bit and gardening has taken a back step (well, there are meters of snow outside so it was necessary). Finally this weekend we had some lovely sunshine and the first signs of spring could be seen in my greenhouse. Viola koreana ‘Sylvetta’ is the star of these pictures. Olen ollut melko kiireinen sisätiloissa tämän talven aika. Olen remontoinut oikein urakalla ja puutarhanhoito on luonnollisesti jäänyt hiukan taka-alalle (toisaalta metrin kinokset nyt ihan pakottivatkin siihen). My Matryoshka Greenhouse
My greenhouse has transformed into a matryoshka greenhouse in the sense that there is a similar smaller greenhouse inside it right now. The smaller greenhouse is actually made from bubble wrap and inside it I have a heater. This way the heat stays inside a smaller better insulated space and I have a place for my Agapanthus, Camellia and other tender beauties. I hope they’ll survive, since the winter did eventually arrive here. Kasvihuoneestani on tullut maatuskakasvihuone. Varsinaisen kasvihuoneen sisäpuolelle on nyt kuplamuovinen kasvihuone ja sen sisällä on lämpöpuhallin. Tomato Time
This is the harvest from a day last week. I’ve never had a crop like this! Really tying up the plants and for once taking good care of them has paid off. In the picture is “my” tomato ‘Malinowy Henrika’ (Henrika is my first name, the tomato was a find in Graines Baumaux’s catalogue), ‘Choclate Cherry’, ‘Sungold’, ‘Galina’, ‘Tomatoberry’, ‘Sweet 100’, ‘Stupice’ and probably a few more. ‘The Bride’ There are white Clematis, and then there are sort of white, creamy, light blue and light pink clematis that are a bit indeterminate.
