I’m Gardening on TV
I got a call yesterday and was asked to be on the Swedish speaking morning show Min Morgon. They were interested in current gardening tasks. It’s still very much winter here so it was either repotting, growing herbs indoors or starting plants from seed. I went with the two latter. I you are in Finland or use a VPN service like the ones my expat friends like you can see the show here until the 24th of February. Garden Style
I was recently asked to be in the Finnish fashion magazine Gloria, in a feature where different people present their own style. Naturally a lot of my style, in the way I dress and decorate, has been influenced by my gardening interest. Mostly I’d say in terms of color, but perhaps also in terms of a certain stark simplicity that I appreciate in various objects. Gloria is a very nice magazine so it was an honor to be asked to appear. Late Summer
This picture is my entry to Gardening Gone Wild’s Picture This competition for this September. This is a link to the same picture that allows the picture to be saved. I had a hard time picking my entry, I like the picture above, I just wish it would be a bit better technically. Still the dahlias lined up in a fantastic way and the weather was co-operating, so I’m mostly pleased. The picture is a few years old and taken with my old camera. I’ve cropped it a bit and I’ve removed a small bug in Photoshop. It took a few tries to get the light right in the background…

I can’t seem to embed this, but on the magazine Koti ja Keittiös homepage, I’m talking about growing herbs and vegetables (in Finnish) on balconies and in small places. My part starts at 2:19. Fair Gardening
An hour before the fair opened. Noin tuntia ennen messujen avaamista. Ungefär en time före mässan öppnade. This week has been super busy, but also quite exciting. There was quite a bit of planning beforehand, but the real effort has been from Tuesday to Wednesday in building a 68 m² fair garden for my employer Kekkilä. Kekkilä has some splendid products that provided the building blocks, but then it was up to me, Ulrika Tuomainen and Juhani Tapiovaara to plan the stand and build it in 30 hours over two days.
