Château de Miromesnil
The next day we started the trip properly and our first visit was to Château de Miromesnil. It’s a beautiful castle with a splendid kitchen garden. It is also one of the places I visited when I was a student and went to Normandy for the first time. On that trip I stayed with my godmother who lives in Normandy for almost half the year. I have loved great kitchen gardens since my first visit and the one at Miromesnil is a truly wonderful classic potager. Tulppaanien lumo – The Enchantment of Tulips
I just attended the opening of the exhibition “Tulppaanien lumo” which will run at the Botanical Gardens in Kaisanimemi until the 9th of April. It was wonderful, there is something magical about bulbs bursting into bloom in the spring and getting an advance view in a greenhouse, when there is still a meter of snow in places outside is just cool! Kävin tänään Tulppaanien lumo-näyttelyn avajaisissa Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa. Näyttely avataan huomenna yleisölle ja se jatkuu 9. huhtikuuta. Näyttely oli aivan ihana, sipulikasvien purskahtaminen keväisin kukkaan on vain jotain niin erikoisen mahtavaa. Kun sitä sitten vielä pääsee ihaileman kasvihuoneessa, kun ulkona vielä on paikoittain metrin lunta, se vain on makeeta!…

Tulip Guerilla Gardening
Today is the International Tulip Guerilla Gardening Day according to guerillagardening.org. It’s a shame my bulbs have not come yet, but then again what guerilla gardener would be that concerned with following the correct day… Tänään vietetään kansainvälistä Tulip Guerilla Gardening-päivää guerillagardening.org:in mukaan. Valitettavasti mun omat tulppaanit eivät ole vielä tulleet, toisaalta mikä sissiviljelijä nyt olisi niin hirveän kiinnostunut seuraamaan tarkkoja päivämääriä… Idag firas den internationella Tulip Guerilla Gardening-dagen enligt guerillagardening.org. Tyvärr har mina egna lökar inte kommit ännu, men å andra sidan skulle kanske inte en äkta gerillaodlare vara så väldigt bekymrad av att göra något på den korrekta dagen…

Summer Light
Summer finally came along, and the garden shows some of its best sides. You could be mistaken and think I mostly have a white flowering garden based on some recent posts, but actually, I’m quite fond of colors, they just don’t show themselves that much at this time of the year. The Azaleas aren’t behaving themselves and most aren’t flowering this year. Kesä tuli vihdoinkin ja puutarha näyttää parhaita puoliaan.
