Snowdrop Day
I’ve been a total snowdrop nerd today and spent hours photographing them, digging up and re-potting. The term “galantophile” is not that far away in describing me right now. Olen ollut melkoinen lumikello-nörtti tänään; olen kuvannut, kaivannut ylös, jakanut ja koulinut niitä. Brittitermi ”galantofiili” ei ole kovin kaukaa haettu.. Fair Confessions
I wasn’t going to attend the fair last weekend at all, but since my brother and his wife were going to the house building part of the fair I tagged along anyway. As expected there wasn’t a lot to see, but there were a few minor nice things. Some of the vendors that usually come to the shows were there, but some were missing. Winter Backlash
Despite some snowdrops and crocus flowering there is still a lot of snow and right now it’s even snowing a bit more. It’s awful, I’m really longing for spring. I’m consoling myself with some of my small seedlings and a few flowering things in the greenhouse. Garden Glory
Garden Glory or to be more exact Gloria Garden (in Finnish: Gloria puutarha), the magazine, was published today. The Glory part is that the magazine features 34 pages by me and my colleague and fantastic garden photographer Hanna Marttinen! There is a 10 page story about me and my kitchen garden and 3 other stories about some really interesting gardens and gardeners. I really recommend buying an issue 😉 Tänään ilmestyi upouusi ja hieno Gloria puutarha-lehti. Omasta näkökulmastani on hienoa että lehdessä on minun ja loistavan puutarhavalokuvaajan ja hyvän ystäväni ja työtoverini Hanna Marttisen tuotantoa peräti 34 sivun verran! Tulppaanien lumo – The Enchantment of Tulips
I just attended the opening of the exhibition “Tulppaanien lumo” which will run at the Botanical Gardens in Kaisanimemi until the 9th of April. It was wonderful, there is something magical about bulbs bursting into bloom in the spring and getting an advance view in a greenhouse, when there is still a meter of snow in places outside is just cool! Kävin tänään Tulppaanien lumo-näyttelyn avajaisissa Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa. Näyttely avataan huomenna yleisölle ja se jatkuu 9. huhtikuuta. Näyttely oli aivan ihana, sipulikasvien purskahtaminen keväisin kukkaan on vain jotain niin erikoisen mahtavaa. Kun sitä sitten vielä pääsee ihaileman kasvihuoneessa, kun ulkona vielä on paikoittain metrin lunta, se vain on makeeta!…
