I Could Have Taken One More Day of Cold
As long as it would have meant the kind of beautiful weather we had until Friday. The mornings especially have been beautiful, but unfortunately I’ve had to go to work and then today it was overcast, but also a lot warmer. Warmer (-7°C …) is nice, but the morning mist with a lot of frost on the trees and the beautiful sunshine was really beautiful. It would have been nice to try to get shots like the ones in the first picture. They are both quite old and that kind of weather isn’t very common. On the other hand 4 out of my 6 cousins + one of my uncles were skiing in the Finlandia race today (50 km) and I guess they preferred -7°C to -22°C.
This is a quick shot from my porch just before I left for work on Friday, that was the kind of potential photography weather we had..
Instead it’s been a bit of an indoor gardening day today. I cut some branches from a Forsythia, a few lilacs, cherry trees, apple trees and a few branches from my Magnolias in order to force them indoors. I cut some last weekend as well, and the Forsythia is already showing a few yellow clocks. I bought a moth orchid a few weeks ago and it’s really flowering charmingly right now. Annoyingly I didn’t notice until later that the pot that my great-great aunt has made is crooked in the picture..
In addition to that kind of indoor gardening I’ve also done some sowing: aubergines, tomatoes, chilies and a few herbs.
Some branches in the background and tulips last weekend.

Lovely pictures, especially the third. I’ve been forcing branches of Forsythia, too; their cheery yellow really brightens up my days. I remember I used to think it is an unattractive, coarse shrub, but I guess I’ve changed. Congrats for the honorable mention at the Gardening Gone Wild photo contest! (ja sama suomeksi…)
HA
Thank You – Kiitos 🙂 the weather was fantastic, it’s possible that we could still get a morning like that. I’m hoping.
Yes, I haven’t always been that excited by Forsythias either, yellow is not exactly my favorite colour, but Forsythia branches just so light up a room this time of the year so a little yellow is forgiven..
