Some More South-Africa

I wrote about my trip to South Africa in October earlier. I posted most of my decent horizontal shots (I actually take a lot more vertical shots, they just don’t look as good on the blog), but a certain part got left out, what I could call “random roses” and a few other pics. I’m a member of the Finnish Rose Society and I am interested in roses, but not in the same way the most devoted enthusiast are, I really could not even be: I am more or less equally interested in so many other aspects of gardening as well and time would just run out. That said, I’m happy to confess that I don’t know the names of the following roses 😉

A single rose at a vineyard.

From what I’ve understood roses are welcome in vineyards, partly as indicator plants, aphids strike them a bit sooner than they would strike the vines. The yard keepers know just when to spray against aphids this way.

I guess this could be ‘New Dawn’.

This might be ‘Iceberg’ (a.k.a. ‘Schneewittchen’), the combination is entirely new to me, it was in the same bed as Agave.

A pretty Marguerite.

I'am a marketing and gardening professional and I plan to blog about garden photography (with an amateur’s perspective on it), gardens, plants, most things even vaguely garden related and garden trips around the world.
